In conjunction with WSSF and So Fine Arts, the Pancake Epidemic played host to a breakfast for Audrey Wollen and Cali Thornhill Dewitt to celebrate the opening of their show at Human Resources entitled Twenty Four Hour Fantasy Reality. While enjoying breakfast from Alexander’s Greek Kitchen friends and family of the artists were able to get a preview of some of the work which would be on display at the show. For the show, both artists have taken the immediately recognizable form of the sweatshirt as a focal point, to mobilize ideas and references to fashion identities within the larger context of contemporary art. As Wollen’s hoodies appropriate the aesthetics of protest wear, Dewitt’s memorial crewnecks are directly influenced by the sweatshirts worn and shared by Los Angeles gang members.
